Are You Eating Healthy?
Your truly are what you eat, and your health depends on it. Depending on the quality of your food, the source, the nutrient content and more, it all plays a role in health. And even if you believe you're a healthy eater, chances are you aren't. When it comes to living healthy in North America, it can be as difficult as climbing Mt. Everest. And what does eating healthy mean, exactly? We are bombarded with different messages, all which tell us different things. Eat eggs, don't eat eggs. Fat is bad....wait, fat is good now!
It's no wonder that when it comes to food, people just give up and give in to their guilty pleasure of fried twinkies...why the hell not? Please, stay away from the fried twinkies.
In reality, food is one of the most important aspects of health, if not THE most important aspect of health. And most of us are not up-to-date with the current health information. And even if we take a look at the foods we all agree on (vegetables, for example), current research is telling us that we are getting a fraction of the nutrients from these food items that we were getting a century ago. Soil depletion, gut impairment and other issues are making it extremely difficult for our bodies to process and absorb the nutrients we need.
We are overfed and malnourished.
Declining soil quality, lack of access to quality produce and lack of interest in eating healthy foods has led us down a path of nutritional decline. And this is just the tip of the iceberg when it comes to health.

My practice with Chinese medicine utilizes food as a key to healthy living and healthy outcomes. We can't get better if we don't change what we put in our bodies everyday. Processed foods, excess sugar, excess grains, pesticides, etc all have unique and detrimental impacts on our health and outcomes.
I don't believe in diets or quick fixes, rather focus on a paradigm shift on the way you view food and nutrition.
